We’re the Mauks - Sage, Rohini (and our son, Jasper!)

High-school sweethearts born and raised on a dreamy small island off the coast of Washington, we grew up immersed in the blessing of nature. Sage toddled around as a child on his family’s small farm selling at the local market, processing chickens, and wrangling mischievous goats.

After Sage spent time serving in the Coast Guard, and Rohini had a brief stint in the fashion industry in NYC, we began to feel the pull towards a simpler, more meaningful existence.

A series of difficult experiences and devastating personal losses wound us up slightly heartbroken, yearning for peace and healing at the front gate of our land here in middle Tennessee. God boldly and bravely planted us here, where we knew no one, but still trusted the vision of beauty that was placed in our hearts.

90 acres of completely raw land was now under our stewardship - land that had only been used previously for cattle grazing and tobacco farming; these whispering, winding hillsides and fertile creeks instantly welcomed us home.

Shortly after we arrived, while planting gardens and buying cows, we became pregnant with our first child, Alinah Melissa. Our sweet baby girl burst with joy into our arms 9 months later, transforming our lives for good. 3 1/2 short months later, she suddenly passed away from a rare and undetected heart disease.

The vision for this land was never just about us -

It’s about the healing that God can do here.

His love is tucked into every nook and cranny of this place. Love that heals, soothes, strengthens, inspires, and redeems.

We know this to be true, because it’s what happened (and is still happening) to us.

Our two guest cabins, handbuilt by Sage and designed by Rohini are only the beginning of Lumen Ranch. In the years to come, we pray to host many, many people, offering a nourishing place to come and just be. Bunkhouses, a dining lodge, abundant gardens and orchards, a natural swimming pool, and a sacred prayer space are all in the works.
